TWoFCS2026 & NuMBAC2026
TWoFCS 2026 is an international workshop that brings together experts researching nuclear and fuel cycle strategies based on numerical analysis. Since the first workshop held in 2016, six workshops have been conducted to date. In 2026, Japan will serve as the host. TWoFCS2026 will be jointly held with NuMBAC, Japan's nuclear fuel cycle simulation research community and workshop. NuMBAC has evolved to incorporate not only traditional technical perspectives of nuclear fuel cycle simulation but also social science perspectives such as economics and sociology. By jointly hosting TWoFCS and NuMBAC, we aim to stimulate interdisciplinary discussions toward the advancement of nuclear fuel cycles in the future, going beyond conventional technical discussions.

Venue: Institute of Science Tokyo, Ookayama Campus
Main Theme: “Strategy & Simulation Towards Fuel Cycle 2.0”
Ambitious nuclear energy development plans are being unveiled worldwide, and concrete projects are rapidly progressing from concept to implementation. Once these initiatives are realized, we will be on the verge of a "Second Expansion Phase" of nuclear power. During this phase, the architecture of the nuclear fuel cycle could undergo a fundamental transformation.
At this pivotal juncture, the need for comprehensive nuclear fuel cycle simulations that can integrate the past, present, and future within a single analytical framework has never been greater. This workshop designates the fuel cycle of the second expansion phase "Fuel Cycle Version 2.0." Building on the expertise accumulated thus far, we will engage in multifaceted discussions to design a sustainable nuclear fuel cycle.
